The current SF Bay Guardian is devoted to a slice of literary life in San Francisco, and filled with small, intimate personal essays – a rare thing in any kind of newspaper – by local writers.
You can view the stories and poems online at the altweekly’s website. Starting with a personal rant by Guardian editor Tim Redmond on the dismal prospects for the starving artist in a technology boomtown (fairly standard stuff for the SFBG, but it doesn’t make it any less true) the series features a poem by SF poet laureate Alejandro Murgia (featured on the cover), and vignettes by Michelle Tea, Analee Newitz, and others.
