The name Bolinas is usually associated with the bohemian town on the coast of Marin County. Bolinas Ridge is up above it, visible from the town.
The ridge has panoramic views and open roads—part of it is parkland and part of it is county land.
Cattle wander and graze the hillsides. On many hills, there are places where weathered, pale rock pokes out like bone.
Cows use the road and there is cow shit everywhere. Which my dog loved—ate it, rolled in it. Pretty gross.
Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, where you can leave your car at a trailhead.
